FIIs trim holdings in 11 midcap stocks over two quarters; shares fall up to 50% in 2026

Investors closely track FII activity for clues about foreign investor sentiment. While stocks witnessing increased FII ownership often attract attention, sustained selling can also offer useful insights. In the BSE midcap space, FIIs reduced their holdings in around 51 midcap companies over the March 2026 and June 2026 quarters, based on shareholding data.
Looking at stock performance in calendar year 2026 so far, more than half of these companies have delivered negative returns. Notably, around 11 midcap stocks declined between 15% and 50% during this period. However, FII selling did not necessarily translate into weaker stock performance across the board. In CY26 so far, the stock has declined 50%, falling from Rs 1,174 to Rs 589. FII shareholding has also steadily decreased, from 13.57% in the December ’25 quarter to 13.25% in March ’26 and further to 13.22% in June ’26.
