London, Aug 9, 2023 -European stock markets rebounded at the start of trading Wednesday as bank shares recovered.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index advanced 0.8 percent to 7,585.16 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX index jumped 0.9 percent to 15,920.92 points and the Paris CAC 40 rallied 1.3 percent to 7,366.01.


Bank shares had slumped Tuesday after Italy imposed a windfall tax on lenders and owing to concerns over the health of the sector in the United States.
