After rising nearly 6 per cent during the previous calendar year, the rupee continued to strengthen in January also.

The local currency has appreciated around 40 paise on a year-to-date basis till January 12.

This performance has been founded on a combination of factors such as highly bullish macro-economic fundamentals and easing monetary policy dynamics, as well as by the strength of global economy.

We have with us Anindya Banerjee, Currency Analyst at Kotak Securities to take us through the factors which are driving rupee this year and where it is heading in the New Year.
