Sensex, which was up 150-odd points in morning trade, cut gains to settle at 32,242, up 55.52 points.
Construction company Capacit'e Infraprojects’s initial public offering was subscribed 4.71 times on the second day of offer today.
Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors DVR, Cipla and Dr Reddy’s stood among top gainers in the Nifty index.
On the other hand, Wipro, BPCL, GAIL, Eicher Motors and ZEEL remained among top losers.
Stocks across the globe traded mixed as disappointing economic data out of China and India impacted investor sentiment.

Nifty50 index again failed to surpass its life time high of 10,137 zones and traded inside the trading range of last sessions.
The index remained choppy for most part of the session and finally closed with the marginal gains of 7 points.
