ET 500: Companies from energy & capital goods sectors dominate list for most assets

With the exception of Indian Oil and NTPC, the asset value of each of the top companies in the sectors expanded by at least 16% in fiscal 2014.

ET500 list for having the most assets in fiscal 2014. The total assets of the top 10 companies in these sectors jumped 18% from fiscal 2013, almost in line with their average three year growth of 19%.

With the exception of Indian Oil and NTPC, the asset value of each of the top companies in the sectors expanded by at least 16% in fiscal 2014. In the capital goods sector, Larson & Toubro outpaced its peers in enhancing asset value.

Overall, in the past four years, L&T has been able to increase the value of its assets at an encouraging pace. However, the jump in assets doesn’t reflect the true state of the economy as these companies may have benefited from capex programmes launched over the past few years.
