Essar Oil gains 5% on commissioning unit at Vadinar refinery

NEW DELHI: Shares of Essar Oil rallied over 5% in trade on Wednesday after the company successfully commissioned its new Vacuum Gas Oil Hydrating (VGOHDT) unit and Sulphur Recovery unit at its Vadinar refinery.

“The VGOHDT unit will ensure that the refinery is able to achieve a throughput capacity of 18 MMTPA,” said C Manoharan, Head of Refinery, Essar Oil said in a filing to the stock exchanges.

The project will expand the capacity of the refinery to 18 MMTPA (375,000 barrels per day) and enhance complexity to 11.8 (from 6.1 currently), which is amongst the highest in the world, it added.
