Emerging markets: Investors bet on India under PM Modi's stewardship
India emerged a winner in the emerging market space as investors bet on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for economic reforms and growth.

Elections were held in emerging markets such as India, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, Hungary, and Colombia in 2014. Most of these markets were closely monitored by global investors while only a few rode through heightened market volatility caused by election result expectations. India emerged a winner in the emerging market space as investors bet on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for economic reforms and growth.
The benchmark index BSE rallied over 33.75% in the past one year. Among other emerging markets Indonesia, Thailand, and Turkey also witnessed positive returns between 22-29% in the last one-year.
