KOLKATA: The biggest risk is not taking any risk at all. It is important to take calculated risks in order to get return on your hard earned money. This was one of the key learnings at the Economic Times Money Gurukul event held in the city on Friday. Organised by ET Edge, the event which is being held across 12 cities, aims to empower the investing public through financial literacy. The session on Friday provided understanding and insights into the basics of financial investing.

Speakers included A. Sunil Kumar,Regional Director of Eastern Regional Office, SEBI, Pritam Chatterjee, Senior Manager, Learning and Development at IIFL on Personal Finance and Purushottam Saraf, Additional General Manager, BSE, one of the country's oldest institutions on Investment at fingertips and checks & guards while investing. Others who also addressed the participants were K S Rao, Head of Investor Education and Distribution Development, Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company on Mutual Fund: An Instrument for Multiple Investments, Narayan Venkat, Assistant Vice President, NSDL on Technology as an Enabler and Gaurav Mashruwala, Financial Planning Expert on Taking Charge of Financial Life.
