ECL Finance, six others buy 6.18 pc stake in Fortis Healthcare

MUMBAI: Fortis Healthcare (India) Ltd today said ECL Finance and six other entities have acquired a 6.18 per cent stake in the company.

However, financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

In a regulatory filing, Fortis Healthcare said 25,052,222 shares, representing a 6.18 per cent stake in the company, were acquired "by way of encumbrances against loans/dues".

ECL Finance, along with Edelweiss Financial Advisors, Edelweiss Securities, Edelweiss Comtrade, Edel Finance Company, Edelweiss Stock Broking and Edelweiss Broking, acquired the 6.18 per cent stake in Fortis Healthcare.

According to the filing, these entities do not belong to either the promoter or promoter group in Fortis Healthcare (India) Ltd.

Fortis Healthcare operates a chain of hospitals and various healthcare centres, among other medical facilities, in India.

Shares of the company jumped by 3.80 per cent to end the day at Rs 91.50 apiece on the BSE.
