Dr Reddy’s surges 5% on winning Omeprazole case

Shares of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories were on the rise after the US district court ruled in its favour in a case related to Omeprazole for which it was fighting a litigation against Astra Zeneca's Prilosec.

MUMBAI: Shares of Dr Reddy���s Laboratories were on the rise after the US district court ruled in its favour in a case related to Omeprazole for which it was fighting a litigation against Astra Zeneca's Prilosec.

"We are very pleased with the favourable summary judgement ruling in the Omeprazole over the counter litigation. This is a key event supporting our strategy to deliver one upside opportunity every year," Dr Reddy's North America Generics Head Amit Patel said in a statement.

The company has also filed for abbreviated new drug application with the US health regulator and is awaiting its approval, he said.

"We have submitted our ANDA filing and are awaiting FDA response. At this point of time, we will continue to work through the regulatory approval process while simultaneously progressing manufacturing and commercialisation preparation," he added.

At 11:15 am, the company���s shares were up 5.28 per cent at Rs 420.40 on the BSE.
