Under Sebi's T+1 settlement cycle, investors need to purchase a company's shares at least one trading day before the record date to ensure the shares are credited to their demat accounts in time, and they become eligible for the corporate action. Accordingly, today is the last opportunity for investors to buy the shares so that they are credited to their accounts by the record date (September 2), making them eligible for the dividend.
NTPC dividend
PSU major NTPC late in July fixed September 2 as the record date for its final dividend of Rs 3.5 per share with a face value of Rs 10 each. The company has declared 48 dividends since February 2005 and the stock has a dividend yield of 2.72%, according to data on Trendlyne.NTPC shares have fallen around 5% in a week and 7% in a month, falling nearly 4% in 2026 so far. In the longer term, the shares of the company have delivered positive returns of around 47% in three years and 179% in five years.
GAIL dividend
GAIL (India) has announced a final dividend of Rs 0.5 per share, with the record date being fixed on September 2. The company has declared 51 dividends since September, 2001, and has a dividend yield of 2.9%.The shares of the company have fallen over 5% in a month but gained 50% in three years and 77% in five years.

Other dividend stocks
Uni Abex Alloy Products has the highest dividend payout among all the stocks turning ex-record date tomorrow, with the company set to pay a total dividend of Rs 100 per share, comprising a final dividend of Rs 40 per share and a special dividend of Rs 60 per share.Gujarat Pipavav Port and Magna Electro Castings will each pay Rs 5 per share, while Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital will pay Rs 4 per share. Other stocks with record dates on Wednesday include Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (Rs 2.5 per share), Triveni Turbine (Rs 2 per share), Black Rose Industries (Rs 1.25 per share), Chemfab Alkalis (Rs 1.25 per share), Kovilpatti Lakshmi Roller Flour Mills (Re 1 per share), Geekay Wires (Rs 0.35 per share) and Compucom.
