The top-five best performing schemes of the category for the year are Principal Emerging Bluechip (52.5%), SBI Magnum Emerging Businesses (50.8%), Franklin India Smaller Companies (49.9%), Axis Midcap (49.9%) and BNP Paribas Midcap (49.3%). Eicher Motors -A stellar of a performer, Eicher Motors' has been riding high on the success of Royal Enfield for over three years now. In the year 2012 alone, this stock has gained 86% in value and is currently trading at Rs 2793 after having touched an all-time high of Rs 3240 during the year.

Indusind Bank & Federal Bank - Banking has been the best performing sector for the year that explains why the fund managers have been so gung-ho about this sector during the year. Over the past one year, Indusind Bank has returned 79% while Federal Bank about 64%. Both these stocks are currently trading near their 52-week high. While Indusind closed at Rs 414 today, near its 52 week high of Rs 436, Federal Bank closed at Rs 538 after touching a new high of Rs 544 during the day.

Sobha Developers- Sobha developers has more than doubled the money of its investors over the past one year period. This stock has gained 103% since December last year and at Rs 384 is currently trading very close to its 52 week high of Rs 398.

Sadbhav Engineering -Compared to other stocks in this list, Sadbhav Engineering's 39% gains during the year appear mellowed. The stock, nevertheless, has found its way to the portfolios of three of the top five mid-cap schemes. It currently trades at Rs 136 having touched a 52-week high of Rs 161 and low of Rs 94.
