Coal India trades ex-dividend; stock slips 5% intraday

Company had approved Interim Dividend for the financial year 2014-15 at Rs. 20.70 per share of the face value of Rs.10/- as on February 27, 2015.

MUMBAI: Shares of Coal India opened with a 5 per cent gap-down as the prices adjusted to the dividend amount announced last week.

The stock ended the day at Rs 379.35, down 3.89 per cent.

The company had approved Interim Dividend for the financial year 2014-15 at Rs. 20.70 per share of the face value of Rs.10/- as on February 27, 2015.

The fundamentals of Coal India are strong and its Offer for Sale was fully subscribed in January.

With the dividend of Rs 20.70 per share; the government will get Rs 10,414 crore in its kitty. It raised around Rs 22,000 crore from OFS by diluting 10 per cent stake in Coal India.
