Stock market snapped three sessions of losses and ended higher on Monday, after swinging between gains and losses through the day, as oil marketing companies continued to drive gains, while metal and some non-banking financial stocks dragged the investor sentiment, Reuters reported.

The government on Saturday assured investors that it would not go back to regulating fuel prices, soothing market frenzy after it announced a Rs 2.50 cut in gasoline and diesel rates on Thursday.

While the benchmark BSE Sensex closed up 0.28 per cent at 34,474.38, the broader NSE Nifty ended 0.31 per cent higher at 10,348.05.


“Nifty managed to end marginally higher amid volatility and settled around 10,350. It started on flat note and traded in a broader range of roughly 200 points thereafter. Weak global markets and feeble local cues kept the sentiment down however oversold positions and existence of crucial support continue to trigger recovery in between,” said Jayant Manglik, President, Religare Broking.
