NEW DELHI: An euphoric rise in stock market indices continues to attract more first time investors. Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) on Thursday said it hit a significant milestone of onboarding 4 crore active demat accounts.

CDSL is currently the largest depository in the country in terms of active demat accounts.

“Our milestones are a result of the hard-work and coordination of all the market infrastructure institutions and the market intermediaries. I wish to thank the investors for choosing CDSL to be their depository,” said Nehal Vora, Managing Director of CDSL.

Major shareholders of CDSL include BSE, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, LIC and Standard Chartered Bank.

The company in February became the first depository to open 3 crore demat accounts. It took just five months to add another 1 crore.
