Call to quash dividend tax, reduce STT

The Association of National Exchanges Members of India has drawn up a 5-point agenda for the Ministry of Finance’s consideration.The demands include a rebate on STT, abolishing dividend distribution tax, amendment of section 14A, Rule 8(d), which seeks dis-allowance of expenses, making dividend income inconsequent, streamlining requirements of GST for intermediaries and seeking ‘industry’ status for the broking business.
