Share market update: Telecom shares mixed; TTML climbs nearly 5%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading on a mixed note in Monday's afternoon session.

Shares of Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 4.90 per cent), GTL (up 3 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 2.80 per cent) and OnMobile Global (up 2.03 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Reliance Communications (down 4.72 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (down 0.99 per cent), GTPL Hathway (down 0.66 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (down 0.65 per cent) were trading with losses.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.03 per cent up at 992.07 around 12:20 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 2.10 points at 11,722 while the BSE Sensex was down 6.63 points at 39,187.86.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Emami, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, BHEL, Spicejet, Dish TV India, PNB, Hindalco Industries and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
