Shares of Bodal Chemicals today plunged to a 52-week low before closing 8.45 per cent down on BSE

MUMBAI: Shares of Bodal Chemicals today plunged to a 52-week low before closing 8.45 per cent down on BSE after the Bombay Stock Exchange said that it is investigating trading of shares of the company.

The stock fell to a 52-week low of Rs 16.55 on BSE during the day. Later, it closed down by 8.45 per cent at Rs 16.80.

On the National Stock Exchange, shares of the company settled 9.76 per cent lower at one-year low of Rs 16.65.

The BSE, yesterday, said that it was investigating the trading in company shares pursuant to the wrong announcement by the firm.

The Exchange said it had received a fax from Bodal Chemicals on August 27, 2011, signed by the Company Secretary, informing that the meeting of the Board of Directors would be held on August 29, 2011 to approve bonus issue.

Fall in the scrip was in huge contrast with the overall bullish trend in the market, with the BSE benchmark Sensex ending 1.59 per cent higher at 16,676.75.
