Bilcare: Rekha Jhunjhunwala offloads most of her holding

Mumbai: Rekha Jhunjhunwala, the spouse of late billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has offloaded most of her holding in Bilcare, a pharmaceutical packaging company this week. Jhunjhunwala has sold 1.6 million Bilcare shares on three trading days since January 9 through bulk deals, BSE data showed.

The stake sales comprise almost 80% of Rakesh and Rekha Jhunjhunwala's joint holding of over 1.9 million shares in the company as on June 30, 2021. The shareholding data as on September 30, 2021, did not reflect the stakes of the Jhunjhunwalas. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala passed away on August 14.

On Wednesday, Rekha sold 675,000 Bilcare shares through bulk deals for ₹3.4 crore after selling 930,000 shares in the previous two sessions. Jhunjhunwalas' bet on Bilcare dates to 2004.


Bilcare shares surged 5% to close at ₹53.10 on the BSE. In the past five sessions, the stock has risen over 25% though it is down 43% from its 52-week high of ₹114.35.
