BHEL surges 5% as company bags order worth Rs 5,600 crore
Shares of Bharat Heavy Electrical, India’s largest power equipment maker, surged 7 per cent in Wednesday’s trade after the company bagged an order worth Rs 5,600 crore from the Tamil Nadu government.

Reacting to the development, the scrip gained 6.90 per cent to hit a high of Rs 99.10 on the BSE. The Tamil Nadu government awarded the Letter of Award to the company to construct the Main Plant Package for the 2x800 MW Uppur Supercritical Thermal Power Project located in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.
The order comes on the back of the 880 MW supercritical Thermal Power Plant to be build in North Chennai.
