BHEL surges 5% on commissioning of three power projects
NEW DELHI: Shares of state-run BHEL jumped over 5 per cent in Wednesday’s trade after the company commissioned three power projects – Koldam HEP (4x200 MW) of NTPC, Parbati HEP Stage-III (4x130 MW) of NHPC and Rampur HEP (6x68.67 MW) of SJVN.

The plants have generating equipment supplied and commissioned by BHEL. Following the development, the stock rose 5.36 per cent to hit a high of Rs 143.45 on BSE.

Recently, the company commissioned a 660 MW supercritical thermal unit in Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, media reports suggested that the Supreme Court has allowed a batch of civil appeals filed against the order of the Madras High Court over the construction of the 2 X 660 MW Ennore SEZ Supercritical Thermal Power Project, offering relief to BHEL and TANGEDCO.

BHEL was awarded the contract for the construction of the plants. But a division bench of the Madras High Court had allowed pleas of the other bidder and directed TANGEDCO to evaluate the price bid, taking into consideration representations submitted by the consortium, prompting TANGEDCO and BHEL to challenge the same, the report said.
