Bharti Airtel unit fined 2.1 billion francs; stock down

Shares of Bharti Airtel were down on profit booking after media reports that Niger regulatory agency has fined 2.1 billion francs for irregularities in rates charged.

MUMBAI: Shares of Bharti Airtel were down on profit booking after media reports that Niger regulatory agency has fined 2.1 billion francs for irregularities in rates charged.

Some of the other companies that were also issued a fine include France Telecom, Emirates Telecommunications, state-owned Sonitel and SahelCom.

At 09:47 a.m., the stock was at 243, down 1.60 per cent on the BSE. It touched a high of Rs 245.90 and a low of Rs 241.45 in trade today.
