Bharat Forge shares dropped to Rs 2,071 apiece, putting them on track to record the sharpest single-day decline in more than two years. The company’s revenue from operation rose nearly 19% year-on-year to Rs 4,640 crore in the April-June quarter of FY27, up from Rs 3,909 crore reported in the year-ago period.
Barring exceptional items, Bharat Forge’s net profit before taxes decreased 2% YoY to Rs 402 crore in Q1 FY27, from Rs 411 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of FY26. Among the segments, the company’s forgings business reported a 8% YoY increase in revenue to Rs 3,831 crore, while that for defence segment surged 87% YoY to Rs 496 crore during the quarter under review.
The exceptional items that dragged down Bharat Forge’s bottom line during the first quarter of FY27 included restructuring costs for the restructuring of its German subsidiary which is facing market challenges and associated cost disadvantages. Expenses related to the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) were also listed as an exceptional item.
Bharat Forge reported an EBITDA of Rs 752 crore for the first quarter of FY27, marking more than 10% YoY increase from the Rs 682 crore reported in the same period last year. Its EBITDA margin meanwhile decreased to 16.2% from 17.4% in the year-ago period.

Bharat Forge shares have plunged around 6% in a week and 2% in a month, but are overall up more than 42% in 2026 so far.
In the longer term, Bharat Forge shares have gained 84% in a year, 119% in three years and 178% in five years. The company currently has a market capitalisation of nearly Rs 99,744 crore.
