Barclays 'Overweight' on Lupin

Barclays has retained its 'Overweight' rating on Lupin after the US FDA approved capsules for Lupin's flagship generic drug Suprax. Keeping the target price too untouched at .Rs 626, Barclays analyst Balaji Prasad said that though competitive threat to Suprax remains, Lupin has “effectively managed” the drug's lifecycle by introducing different forms and strengths.

“ Lupin may withhold the launch of the 400mg capsule, until generic competition materialises, thus further extending the lifecycle of the 400mg strength in a different form,” Prasad said.
