Axis Bank shares in focus after Q2 biz update shows 23% rise in gross advances to Rs 13.8 lakh crore

Axis Bank reported a 22.7% YoY rise in gross advances to Rs 13.846 lakh crore in Q2, while total deposits grew 20.7% to Rs 14.521 lakh crore. The bank also disclosed FCNR(B) deposit mobilisation and a senior management resignation.

Axis Bank reports strong Q2 growth in advances and deposits.

Shares of private lender Axis Bank will be in focus on Tuesday after it reported a 22.7% year-on-year (YoY) increase in gross advances to Rs 13.846 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026, from Rs 11.284 lakh crore a year earlier, according to its exchange filing. Gross advances also increased 8.8% from Rs 12.729 lakh crore at the end of June 2026.

Total deposits rose 20.7% year-on-year to Rs 14.521 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 12.035 lakh crore a year earlier. On a sequential basis, deposits increased 5.8% from Rs 13.729 lakh crore at the end of June. CASA deposits stood at Rs 5.296 lakh crore at the end of September, marking a 10.6% YoY rise and a 1.5% increase from the previous quarter.

Term deposits rose 27.3% YoY to Rs 9.225 lakh crore from Rs 7.245 lakh crore a year earlier. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, term deposits increased 8.4%.

The bank said it had mobilised FCNR(B) deposits totalling $10.62 billion, or around Rs 1.018 lakh crore, as of September 30, 2026, under the Reserve Bank of India’s swap facility for FCNR(B) deposits. Part of these FCNR(B) flows was used to reduce non-retail term deposits during the quarter, which declined 8.6% sequentially.

Loans provided by Axis Bank’s international branches to customers as a leveraging facility for placing these deposits stood at $4.57 billion, or around Rs 43,800 crore. Excluding these loans, gross advances would have increased 18.8% YoY and 5.3% quarter-on-quarter. Total deposits would have risen 17% year-on-year and 2.6% sequentially, while term deposits would have grown 21.3% year-on-year and 3.2% quarter-on-quarter.

Axis Bank also said standby letters of credit issued in favour of other banks against loans backed by FCNR(B) deposits stood at $4.69 billion, or around Rs 44,900 crore. Axis Bank said the figures as of September 30, 2026 are provisional and subject to a limited review by its statutory auditors.

Separately, the bank said Sanjeev Moghe, Senior Management Personnel and Group Head: Branch Banking – South, has resigned to pursue an opportunity outside Axis Bank. Moghe submitted his resignation on October 4, 2026, and will be relieved from the bank’s services at the close of business on October 30. He will also cease to be a Senior Management Personnel from that date.
