Atul Ltd gains 5% on unit sale talk

Shares of agrochemicals firm Atul Ltd surged 5.1% to Rs 209.10 on Tuesday amid speculation the company is planning to sell its aromatic business.

The company did not respond to an ET query on this matter, but in a statement to the BSE post trading hours on Tuesday, it said, “There appears a news/rumour in the market that Atul Ltd is in the process of selling aromatics business. The company vehemently denies such news.

The company has made substantial investment in the business in the recent past and has continued interest in growing the business.” Around 13,250 Atul shares changed hands on the BSE compared to the two-week average of 5,150 shares.
