April JLR sales data drive Tata Motors up 3%

Tata Motors went up over 3 per cent on Wednesday morning as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sales grew at an annual 11.90 per cent to 45,180 units for April.

The sales of its subsidiary were primarily driven by introduction of new models, including the Range Rover Velar, the Land Rover Discovery and the Jaguar E-PACE.

The scrip was trading 3.48 per cent up at Rs 343.65 at around 11.35 am whereas the BSE Sensex edged up 25 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 35,242.


Retail sales for April notched up significant gains year-on-year in China (28.9 per cent), the UK (25.9 per cent), overseas markets (21.3 per cent) and North America (2.5 per cent), nosed down in Europe (-10.2 per cent) amid continuing uncertainty over diesel in the UK and Europe.

While Jaguar retail sales were 13,289 units in April, up 8 per cent from last year, Land Rover sales increased by 13.60 per cent to 31,891.
