Apollo Hospitals, GSK Consumer hit 52-week highs on inclusion in MSCI India Index

Inclusions in MSCI small-cap index includes stocks like Alembic Pharma, CARE, eClerx, Godrej Properties and JK Cement.

NEW DELHI: Wockhardt, Apollo Hospitals, Oil India and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer were among the four stocks which rose over 3 per cent each in trade on Thursday after they were included in MSCI India index.

Shares of Apollo Hospitals and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer surged to hit their respective 52-week highs in trade. The stocks will be included in the index from June 3, 2013.

Apollo Hospitals surged nearly 10 per cent in afternoon trade to hit its 52-week high of Rs 1060. At 01:30 p.m., the stock was trading 7.6 per cent higher at Rs 1038.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer rallied nearly 8 per cent in afternoon trade to hit its 52-week high of Rs 4796.90. The stock gave some of its gains and was trading 7.3 per cent higher at Rs 4767.70.

Wockhardt was trading 1.4 per cent higher at Rs 1855. It hit a low of Rs 1822.85 and a high of Rs 1909.85 in trade today.

Oil India was trading 2.8 per cent higher at Rs 597.40. It hit a low of Rs 592 and a high of Rs 605 in trade today.

There are no deletions in the MSCI India index. All in all, nine stocks were added, while 35 stocks were deleted from MSCI Small-cap Index.

Inclusions in MSCI small-cap index includes stocks like Alembic Pharma, CARE, eClerx, Godrej Properties, IRB Infrastructure, JK Cement, PC Jeweller, SE Investments and Videocon Industries Ltd.
