Apollo, GlaxoSmithKline shares surge on MSCI inclusion

Shares of Apollo Hospitals, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, Oil India and Wockhardt today surged as much as 8 per cent.

Apollo, GlaxoSmithKline shares surge on MSCI inclusion
NEW DELHI: Shares of Apollo Hospitals, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, Oil India and Wockhardt, which have been included in the MSCI India Index, today surged as much as 8 per cent.

Stocks of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare also touched their 52-week highs today.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise was the biggest gainer climbing 8.51 per cent to close at Rs 1,048. During intra-day trading, the scrip also touched its 52-week high of Rs 1,060 on the BSE.

Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare shot up 7.66 per cent to end the day at Rs 4,783.45. It also reached the 52-week high of Rs 4,808.

Oil India rose 3.10 per cent to close at Rs 589.60 after touching the day's high of Rs 605.

Meanwhile, Wockhardt shares gained more than 1 per cent to close at Rs 1,848.10.

All these four stocks have been included in the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) India Index, with effect from May 31.
