Ansal Properties shares rise 6% on bio-diesel foray

Shares of Ansal Properties and Infrastructure surged 6 per cent on Friday, on the company's plans to foray into the field of bio-diesel.

MUMBAI: Shares of Ansal Properties and Infrastructure surged 6 per cent on Friday, on the company's plans to foray into the field of bio-diesel.

This strengthens the company's presence in the power sector after it set up a 12 megawatt wind energy farm in Gujarat at an investment of over Rs 72 crore.

The company has already planted 50,000 saplings of the Jatropha Cucas plant at the Palam Farms in Palam Vihar and Aravalli Farms near Gurgaon, which can be used to produce clean bio-diesel fuel.

This fuel can be used in both diesel vehicles and generators with minor changes in the engines. The company is planning to plant 2,00,000 plants per year for the next two more years.

At 10:56 am, Ansal Properties shares were up 11.13 per cent at Rs 259.55, after rising to a high of Rs 260. The counter clocked a volume of 78,980 shares against two-week average of 93957 shares.
