Ansal group shares mixed; Ansal Buildwell up 4%
Shares of Ansal group of companies were mixed on Tuesday, following a decision in the Uphaar theatre blast case.
Shares of Sushil Ansal-owned Ansal Properties & Infrastructure were down 1.23 per cent at Rs 264.90.
Deepak Ansal-promoted Ansal Housing & Construction was the hardest hit. The stock was down 3.19 per cent at Rs 186.50. The shares opened at Rs 190, moved on to a high of Rs 195 and low of Rs 186 earlier in the day.
Uphaar theatre owners Sushil and Gopal Ansal were among 12 accused convicted by a court in the 1997 cinema hall fire tragedy case which claimed 59 lives.
Besides Ansals, the Sessions court convicted two MCD officials Shyam Sunder Sharma and ND Tiwari and a Delhi Fire Service officer H S Panwar for causing death by negligent act.
Ansals and other accused, held guilty under Section 304 A of the IPC, face a maximum imprisonment of two years along with a fine.
The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment for all the 12 convicts on Wednesday.
