Altsom T&D rises on Rs 79 crore order win
MUMBAI: Shares of Alstom T&D moved higher in trade after bagging Rs 79 crore order from PowerGrid Corporation of India to provide 14 shunt reactors.

The shunt reactors are for the 765 kV electrical substations at Kanpur and Jhatikara in the Uttar Pradesh. The projects are due for delivery in 2015. Shunt reactors are used to increase stability on the electrical grid and maintain insulation across long transmission lines between power plants and consumption areas.

Alstom said that its shunt reactors were designed to maintain the 765 kV voltage levels, whatever the load, by limiting transient over-voltages that can occur due to sudden load decreases. The equipments will be manufactured at Alstom's transformer and reactor manufacturing facility in Vadodara.

At 10:30 a.m.; the stock was at Rs 186.95, up 2.07 per cent, on the BSE. It touched a high of Rs 193.45 and a low of Rs 186.20 in trade today.
