NEW DELHI: Shares of ACC ended 4.13 per cent higher on Thursday after the company said it has commenced production of a 2.79 million 2.79 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) clinker plant at Jamul, Chhattisgarh.

The move is aimed at strengthening the consumer base in East India.

Following the development, the stock rose 5.09 per cent to hit a high of Rs 1,716.75 on BSE.

"We are pleased to announce commencement of commercial production from our new state-of-the-art 2.79 MTPA clinker facility at Jamul, located in Chhattisgarh, with effect from July 19," the company said in a regulatory filing.

The company added that two cement grinding facilities, one in Chhattisgarh and the other in Jharkhand, will be commissioned within the September quarter.

The company is looking to offer premium quality products like ACC F2R (foundation to roof), ACC Plus and Hi-performance PSC cements for complete concreting solutions, the company said.
