Four Vedanta entities could attract up to $159 million in passive inflows following the September 2026 NSE index reshuffle.
Vedanta Aluminium Metal is expected to account for the bulk of the inflows at $149 million, followed by Vedanta Oil & Gas at $4 million. Vedanta Power and Vedanta Iron and Steel could each see inflows of around $3 million, the brokerage said.

Among other Vedanta group companies, Sterlite Technologies is estimated to receive passive inflows of $10 million, while metals and mining major Vedanta could see an outflow of $13 million, according to the report.
Vedanta companies' Q1 results
Vedanta Aluminium reported a more than threefold year-on-year (YoY) jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 5,629 crore for the first quarter of FY27, as the recently listed company announced its first quarterly results following its mega demerger. Net profit surged 216% YoY from Rs 1,781 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Revenue from operations rose 46% YoY to Rs 21,393 crore during the April-June quarter of FY27, from Rs 14,654 crore in the year-ago period.Vedanta Iron and Steel Ltd (VISL) reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 122 cr for the quarter ended June 30, driven by higher revenue from operations. However, the company had posted a net loss of Rs 142 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Vedanta Oil and Gas reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 945 crore for the first quarter of FY27. This marks a sharp turnaround from a net loss of Rs 104 crore in the year-ago period and a net loss of Rs 479 crore in the March quarter. The company delivered the profit despite reporting a net exceptional loss of Rs 441 crore during the quarter. Revenue from operations rose about 8.5% year on year to Rs 2,507 crore from Rs 2,311 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
Vedanta Power reported a standalone loss of Rs 449 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. However, the newly-listed company had posted a net profit of Rs 75 crore in the year-ago period. The consolidated loss of the company stood at Rs 423 crore during the first quarter of the current fiscal. However, the firm had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 88 crore in the year-ago period.

Nifty September 2026 rejig
NSE Indices has announced changes to the Nifty 500, Nifty 100 and Nifty Next 50 as part of its semi-annual review of the broad market indices. The changes will come into effect from September 30, 2026, after the close of trading on September 29.The Nifty 100 will see five stocks exit the index: Indian Hotels, Lodha Developers, REC, Shree Cement and United Spirits. They will be replaced by BSE, Hitachi Energy India, Polycab India, Vedanta Aluminium Metal and Vodafone Idea. The same changes will also be reflected in the Nifty 100 Equal Weight index.
The Nifty Next 50 will also undergo five changes. Indian Hotels, Lodha Developers, REC, Shree Cement and United Spirits will be excluded, while Hitachi Energy India, Polycab India, Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vodafone Idea and Wipro will be added.
Wipro's inclusion in the Nifty Next 50 follows its removal from the Nifty. According to NSE Indices, the constituents of the Nifty and Nifty Next 50 are drawn from the Nifty 100. Stocks that are included in the reconstituted Nifty 100 but do not feature in the Nifty 50 are then included in the Nifty Next 50.
