Wockhardt clocks Rs 565-cr loss in Q4

Wockhardt has clocked a net loss of Rs 565.2 crore during Q4 FY10 compared to a net loss of Rs 10.2 crore during the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

MUMBAI: Wockhardt has clocked a net loss of Rs 565.2 crore during Q4 FY10 compared to a net loss of Rs 10.2 crore during the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

For the 15-month period starting from January 2009 to March 2010, the company has recorded a net loss of Rs 1,000.8 crore compared to Rs 138.9 crore net loss it had clocked in the 12-month period from January 2008 to December 2009, according to the company.

During this 15-month period (January 2009-March 2010), the revenue was Rs 4,501 crore and operating profit (EBIDTA) was Rs 823 crore, it said. For Q4 FY10, the sales revenue is Rs 872 crore and operating profit (EBITDA) Rs 158 crore. The net loss of Rs 565.2 crore includes the derivatives-related losses and non-cash provisions for impairment of Negma’s goodwill due to the possible threat of generics to its principal product amounting to Rs 633 crore. There was also an exchange fluctuation loss of Rs 16 crore.
