United Breweries Q4 results: Net profit zooms 135% to Rs 97 cr

The maker of Kingfisher beer posted a 17.06% increase in net sales for the fourth quarter at Rs 3628.5 crore against Rs 3099.58 crore a year earlier.

Bengaluru: United Breweries, the country’s biggest brewer, on Tuesday said its net profit for the quarter ended March increased 134.91% to Rs 96.76 crore from Rs 41.19 crore a year earlier.

The maker of Kingfisher beer posted a 17.06% increase in net sales for the fourth quarter at Rs 3628.5 crore against Rs 3099.58 crore a year earlier.

In a stock exchange filing, Heineken-controlled United Breweries said its volume recovery was sharper over the previous quarter with most markets bouncing back, resulting in an overall 9% growth.


All regions barring south recorded strong double digit growth. The south market recorded low single digit growth due to sharp decline in Telangana led by Covid excise taxation. The quarter witnessed good recovery in key markets like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa.

“Due to the second wave, the industry outlook is volatile. Impact will depend on magnitude and duration of lockdowns, including any partial or full trade restrictions.

UBL will continue to manage all elements of costs and capital investments in light of the uncertain demand given the situation of the second Covid-19 wave across the country,” the company said.

The company announced the quarter results after the market closed. The company stock closed at Rs 1164.35 on the BSE on Tuesday, up 1.83% from the previous close.
