Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals posts Rs 5.82 crore net loss in June quarter

CHENNAI: Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd today reported a net loss of Rs 5.82 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2012.

The city-based company had posted a net loss of Rs 1.89 crore.

For the year ending March 31, 2012, the net loss stood at Rs 12.78 crore, Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals and Fertilisers said in a BSE filing.

The company said the loss for the quarter is due to annual maintenance on April 12 and shutdown of plants for 17 days due to failure of N Brine cooler.

The total income of the company for the quarter ending June 30, 2012 dipped to Rs 33.96 crore from Rs 40.24 crore registered during the same period of last year.

For the year ending March 31, 2012, the total income stood at Rs 216.11 crore.

Shares of the company today closed higher by 4.99 per cent at Rs 7.79 a piece on the BSE.
