SER clocks 13.47% revenue growth during April-September

During the first six months of the current financial SER carried 136.74 million passengers against 129.00 million in the previous corresponding period.

KOLKATA: During the first six months of the current financial South Eastern Railway carried 136.74 million passengers against 129.00 million in the previous corresponding period, thus registering a 6% growth.

Out of the total 136.74 million passengers, 73.53 million were non-suburban passengers while 63.21 million were suburban passengers.

Earnings from passenger traffic have recorded a jump of 13.47% during the period and the division earned Rs.623.66 crore from passenger traffic against Rs.549.63 crore in the previous corresponding period.

SER has shown a considerable improvement in freight sector. This year during April-September, SER loaded 61.24 million tonnes against 59.84 million tons loaded during the corresponding period of last year, thus registering a growth of 2.34%.

During the period the number of wagons loaded by SER was 50660 as against 45740 wagons loaded during corresponding period of last year, thus recording an increase of 4920 wagons -- a 10.76% growth.
