Reliance Power reports flat net profit in Q1
NEW DELHI: Reliance Power’s net profit remained flat at Rs 240 crore during the first quarter of the current fiscal as against Rs 239 crore in the same period last year.

The company’s total income fell by 3 per cent to Rs 1206 crore during April-June 2013 as against Rs 1252 crore in the corresponding fiscal last year. Its operating revenues decreased by 1 per cent to Rs 1123 crore from Rs 1163 crore reported during April-June 2012, an official statement said.

Reliance Power chief executive officer J P Chalasani said, “The 1,200 mw Rosa Power Project in Uttar Pradesh continued with its strong operating and financial performance. The regulatory approval for selling power on cost-plus basis from the 600 MW Butibori Power project would pave the way for substantially mitigating the sectoral challenges such as fuel and commercial risks for the plant and I am confident of improved performance once the off-take commences.”

The statement said construction activities are in progress for the second 660 mw unit of the 3960 mw Sasan ultra mega power project in Madhya Pradesh and the project is on track to be commissioned ahead of bid schedule.

The company expects to commission its 100 mw solar power (CSP) project in Dhursar, Rajasthan this year.
