Radio Mirchi Q2 profit rises 31%

Leading private FM radio operator Entertainment Network (India) has posted a 31% rise in net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2010.

MUMBAI: Leading private FM radio operator Entertainment Network (India) has posted a 31% rise in net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2010.

The company’s net profit rose to Rs 5 crore in the quarter against Rs 3.8 crore in the year-ago period, in a quarter that is usually considered a lean season for media companies, said the company in a statement.
Net profit for the half year ended September 30, 2010, also grew nearly four times to Rs 9.3 crore compared with Rs 2.4 crore in the first half of last year.

Total revenue rose 12% to Rs 62.8 crore against Rs 56 crore in the year-ago period. As per the latest Indian Readership Survey (IRS), Radio Mirchi, as ENIL is often called, occupied the top spot in FM radio space with over 42 million weekly listeners, double the listenership of the next radio brand.

ENIL began operations in June 1999 through the brand Radio Mirchi in 32 Indian cities and is headquartered in Mumbai.
