PTC India Q4 profit more than doubles to Rs 33.50 crore

State-run PTC India's profit more than doubled to Rs 33.50 crore for the three months ended March 31, 2011.

NEW DELHI: State-run PTC India's profit more than doubled to Rs 33.50 crore for the three months ended March 31, 2011.

In the year-ago period, the firm had a profit of Rs 13.86 crore, it said in a regulatory filing.

PTC, which is mainly into trading of power, raked in a total income of Rs 2,078.77 crore in the quarter under review as compared to Rs 1,243.47 crore in the same period a year ago.

"During this quarter, services charges of Rs 367.10 lakh (corresponding quarter ended March 31, 2010 -- Rs 67 lakhs) have been recognized as income from sale and purchase of electricity through energy exchanges," the filing noted.

PTC recorded a profit of Rs 139.2 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011, an increase of 48 per cent as compared to the year-ago period.

In 2009-10, it had a profit of Rs 94.10 crore.
