Procter & Gamble Q3 net profit up 34 pc at Rs 52 crore

Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd today said its net profit rose by 33.66 per cent to Rs 52.05 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, 2012.

MUMBAI: Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd today said its net profit rose by 33.66 per cent to Rs 52.05 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, 2012, on the back of robust growth in feminine care and health care business segments.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 38.94 crore in the same period previous year, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care said in a filing to the BSE.

Net sales of the company for the quarter rose to Rs 326.20 crore compared to Rs 234.39 crore in the same period of 2010-11.

The company continued to grow in feminine care by posting gross sales growth of 30 per cent over the same period of last fiscal, it said.

"Growth in this category was driven by consumer meaningful initiatives that grew the category and served more customers," it added.

The healthcare category witnessed 37 per cent sales growth compared to last year, driven by commercial and product innovation across product categories, it said.

For the nine-month period ended March 31, 2012, the company posted a net profit of Rs 146.02 crore compared to Rs 115.25 crore in the same period of previous fiscal.

Shares of Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care today closed at Rs 2,064.05 on the BSE, down 1.95 per cent from its previous close.
