Page Industries registers 18% rise in net profit

MUMBAI: Page Industries Ltd, maker of innerwear, leisurewear and sportswear posted an 18% rise on net profit at Rs 32.76 crore for the first quarter ended June, 2012.

The company, which is the exclusive licensee of Jockey International Inc. (USA) and Speedo International Limited (UK) recorded sales of Rs 218.12 crore for the quarter an increase of 24% from the corresponding quarter last year.

"The first quarter of the financial year 2012-13 has been extremely satisfactory, eventful and rewarding for us at Page Industries. Besides witnessing a healthy growth in sales and net profit, our new Jockey advertising campaign with the brand positioning 'Jockey or Nothing' has generated a very good response from our target audience," Sunder Ashok Genomal, Managing Director, Page Industries Ltd said.

The company also said that its presence in 25 leading publications in English and seven vernacular languages covering readership in all metros as well as tier 1 and tier 2 cities, has been complemented by an extensive out of home campaign driven through 400 plus billboards in 87 cities belonging to 25 states.

The company is optimistic that its television and cinema campaigns during the second quarter will further strengthen the emotional connect with its consumers and drive recall and saliency for the Jockey brand.

Jockey products are retailed through 74 exclusive brand outlets and over 20,000 retail stores in 1200 cities and towns across India. This quarter also witnessed progress on the launch of the Speedo brand, which is available in 410 stores including large format stores in 12 cities and two Speedo exclusive brand outlets located in Delhi and Bangalore.
