NHPC profit up 72.62 per cent at Rs 1,180.84 crore in Q2

NEW DELHI: State-run NHPC today posted 72.62 per cent jump in standalone net profit to Rs 1,180.84 crore for the quarter ended on September 30, 2015, on account of higher income from operations.

"The company has posted a net profit of Rs 1,180.87 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2015 where as the same was at Rs 684.10 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2014," NHPC Ltd informed BSE in a filing today.

Total Income was Rs 2679.44 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2015 where as the same was at Rs 2325.01 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2014.

The company is mainly into power generation business. Its sales or income from operations increased to Rs 2,334.24 crore in the quarter under review compared to 2,086.01 crore in the year ago period.

However, the company said that in view of the seasonal nature of business, the financial results of the current quarter may not be comparable with previous quarter of current year.
