National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has registered a 10% rise in net profit to Rs 131 crore in the quarter ended December 2013 (Q3 FY14) compared to the same period last year. Nalco's net profit for the nine month period ended December 2013 amounted to Rs 470 crore, up 35% over Rs 347 crore in same period last year. Nalco reported lower metal production at 79,000 tonnes in Q3 FY14 against a production of one lakh tonne in the previous corresponding quarter. Production of alumina hydrate at 4.66 lakh tonne was up 17.4% compared to 3.97 lak tonne in same period last year. For the nine-month period ended December 2013 aluminium metal production went down to 2.38 lakh tonne against 3.05 lakh tonne in the same period last year. Production of alumina hydrate touched 14.26 lakh tonne in April-December 2013, up 12.2% against 12.7 lakh tonne in the previous corresponding period.
