NEW DELHI: Agri-biotechnology major Monsanto India today posted 15.64 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 56.24 crore during the first quarter ended June 30 on higher sales.

The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 48.63 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

Total income increased 11.38 per cent to Rs 227.64 crore during the April-June period of this financial year from Rs 204.37 crore in the same period last year, Monsanto India said in a filing to the BSE.

Monsanto India is a subsidiary of the US-based Monsanto engaged in selling agri-inputs. It is the only publicly listed Monsanto entity outside USA.

The company scrip closed 2.59 per cent up at Rs 647.90 on the BSE.
