MUMBAI: Westlife Development Ltd, which runs the master franchise of fast-food chain McDonald’s in southern and western India, posted a wider net loss for the April-June quarter, though store expansion helped it report higher revenue.

The company said its loss widened to Rs 4.8 crore from Rs 1.3 crore a year earlier. Revenue rose 3.2% to Rs 207 crore.

Its same-store sales – which consider sales only at those stores which were operating during both comparable periods – fell 4.9%, indicating a tough consumer market.

“For the second year in succession, the operating environment remained challenging with market growth under pressure," Vice Chairman Amit Jatia said.
