NEW DELHI: Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd (HMVL) today posted a 20.59 per cent increase in standalone net profit at Rs 46.96 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2016.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs 38.94 crore in the January-March quarter of the previous fiscal 2014-15.

Net sales rose over 12.35 per cent to Rs 223.93 crore during the fourth quarter of 2015-16, from Rs 199.3 crore in the year-ago period, HMVL said in a filing to the BSE.

For the entire fiscal 2015-16, HMVL's net profit stood at Rs 180.56 crore as against Rs 140.86 crore in the previous fiscal.

The company's net sales grew to Rs 906.43 crore from Rs 805.74 crore in the said period.

The company publishes Hindustan newspaper and Nandan and Kadambini magazines.

HMVL's stock was trading at Rs 269.55, down 2.74 per cent, in the afternoon session on the BSE.
