Hindalco Industries on Friday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 7,532 crore for the second quarter of the ongoing financial year 2027, marking an around 59% year-on-year (YoY) surge from Rs 4,741 crore reported in the same period last year.

The profit for the quarter under review, however, included exceptional gains of Rs 284 crore, while the corresponding quarter of FY26 included an exceptional loss of Rs 182 crore. Barring the one-time items, Hindalco’s net profit grew more than 47% YoY.

The company’s revenue from operations, meanwhile, grew nearly 39% YoY to Rs 91,708 crore for the July-September quarter of FY27, from Rs 66,058 crore reported in the year-ago period. After the release of the results, the shares of the company recovered from sharp morning losses of up to 5% to trade less than a percent lower at Rs 930 apiece.

Hindalco’s EBITDA jumped 42% YoY to Rs 13,757 crore, while upstream EBITDA soared 55% YoY to Rs 7,009 crore. EBITDA from non-LME-linked businesses rose 50% YoY to Rs 6,860 crore during the quarter under review. The metals major also posted a sharp 164% YoY surge in quarterly copper EBITDA, which surged to a record high of Rs 1,673 crore.

This record performance was underpinned by the strength of Hindalco’s integrated business model led by a solid primary upstream business complemented by strong contributions from its downstream business, the company said in an exchange filing. It added that the copper business reported its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA, while Novelis sustained improved performance building on Oswego’s normalisation.

Together, the non-LME-linked businesses contributed almost 50% to the company’s earnings, which Hindalco said reflected sustainable growth despite LME volatility and global macroeconomic headwinds.

What Hindalco management said

Hindalco delivered its strongest-ever quarterly performance, with revenue and profit surpassing their previous highs, said Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco Industries. “Our long-term strategy of building an integrated business model across upstream metals and downstream value-added products is translating into a stronger and more resilient earnings profile,” he added.

Looking ahead, Pai said that the commissioning and ramp-up of Bay Minette, copper recycling, aluminium battery foil, Aditya FRP and Inner Grooved Tubes will further accelerate the share of the company’s non-LME-linked businesses. On the upstream front, the aluminium refinery and smelters, copper smelters and coal mine projects remain on track. “Together, these investments reinforce Hindalco’s position as an integrated global metals company, combining upstream strength with downstream growth to deliver sustainable, long-term value in all market cycles,” he added.
