GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Q2 net up 15% at Rs 82.46 cr
GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited (GSKCH) on Monday said its has registered a 15 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 82.46 crore.
For the April-June quarter 2010, the company had posted a net profit of Rs 71.75 crore, it said in a statement.
The company's total income increased to Rs 689.35 crore to from Rs 565.41 crore in the year-ago period, it said.
This growth has been equally supported by contribution from all regions, the release said.
Commenting on the results, Zubair Ahmed, MD, GSKCH said, "Despite challenging environment of rising commodity prices and high input costs, the company has posted excellent results".
Sustained focus on distribution and cost optimisation drive overall growth, he said.
GSKCH, an associate of GlaxoSmithKline plc of UK, a global science-based healthcare company is the largest player in the health food drinks industry, the statement said.
The company with its manufacturing plants located in Nabha, Rajahmundry and Sonepat has a total workforce of about 2,900 people. It also has 550 wholesalers and direct coverage of over 6,40,000 retail outlets.
